The histogram of fluorine in all West Virginia coal beds shows an irregular distribution skewed toward low values with a significant amount of tailing toward higher values and a mean of 62.68 ppm (± 49.68 ppm) on a whole coal basis.  The maximum fluorine content was 370 ppm in the Pocahontas No.8 coal.  Fluorine did not correlate with ash yield, total sulfur, pyritic sulfur or any trace elements.
