Trace Elements in West Virginia Coals
Terbium
(Tb) Summary Statistics
Terbium averaged 0.26 ppm (± 0.15 ppm) in West Virginia coals
with a near normal histogram showing a slight tail toward higher values
and a maximum value of 1.26 ppm in a bench of the Coalburg coal.
Terbium did not correlate with ash yield. Terbium is one of the rare
earth elements and correlated well with other rare earth elements such
as europium (Eu), samarium (Sm), ytterbium (Yb), lutetium (Lu), scandium
(Sc), cerium (Ce), thorium (Th), lanthanum (La) and lead (Pb).
