Trace Elements in West Virginia Coals
Copper
shows a slight trend in average abundance with moderate Cu in Lower and
Middle Pennsylvanian coals and low Cu in Upper Pennsylvanian coals, and
especially low Cu in important Monongahela Group coals (Pittsburgh, Redstone
and Sewickley). High values in single samples of the Upper Mercer
and Chilton coals are unexplained (see cautionary
notes page).
