Praseodymium was detected in only 80 of 546 coal samples analyzed in West Virginia and averaged 3.11 ppm (± 2.87 ppm) on a whole coal basis with an irregular histogram showing a significant tail toward higher values.  A maximum Pr value of 11.83 ppm was observed in the Beckley coal with high Pr in other New River Formation coals.    Praseodymium correlated very poorly with ash yield (r = +0.2173), but correlated somewhat with molybdenum (Mo) (r = +0.7038) and uranium (U) (r = +0.6086).
