The stratigraphic distribution of Rubidium (Rb) shows that most coals average less than 50 ppm Rb with no trends in abundance, probably reflecting minor Rb substitution for potassium (K) in ubiquitous clay minerals.  The Pocahontas No. 8 and Brush Creek coals frequently contained high Rb values
